Privacy Policy
The short version
We collect the least we can: your step counts, your pet, and your account basics. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising. Health data never leaves your device except as an aggregate daily step total tied to your pet.
What we collect
Steps and activity: a daily step total (and optional distance and active minutes) read from Apple Health or Google Fit with your permission. We store daily totals, not continuous location or raw sensor data.
Account: email or Apple/Google sign-in identifier, display name, pet names, level, streak and league history.
Device and diagnostics: app version, OS version, device model, crash reports and anonymous usage events so we can find bugs.
What we never collect
Background GPS traces, contacts, photos, heart rate, sleep, weight, or any other health category beyond steps, distance and active minutes. We do not run third-party ad SDKs.
Why we use it
To grow, feed and animate your pet; to keep streaks and leagues fair; to sync your progress across your devices; to answer support emails; and to fix crashes. That is the whole list.
Sharing
Friends and league opponents see your display name, pet, level and step-goal completion — never your raw step counts unless you choose to share a screenshot.
We use a small number of processors (cloud hosting, crash reporting, email) bound by data-processing agreements. We disclose data to authorities only where legally required.
Retention and your rights
Activity history is kept for 24 months, then aggregated. Delete your account in Settings → Account and everything personal is erased within 30 days.
You can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@tagalong.pet. You can also revoke health permissions in iOS or Android settings — the app keeps working, your pet just stops moving.
Children
Tagalong is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.
